2023 EPCOR Water MSA Construction

    In 2023, GS Construction carried out their work for EPCOR Water Services, as per the Master Service Agreement (MSA) of 2018. This construction season encompassed a diverse range of projects, including the back alley main renewal under the Risk Based Renewal (WRBR) program, the installation of a large diameter transmission main for the future Valley Line and Capital Line LRT expansions, as well as the necessary relocation of watermains for significant City of Edmonton initiatives like the 50th Street Overpass. Throughout these multifaceted projects, GS Construction’s highly skilled crews worked with utmost efficiency and an unwavering commitment to safety. GS Construction continued to work closely with all EPCOR Water Project Managers and field Inspectors/Coordinators, as well as external groups such as City of Edmonton Traffic Operations, City of Edmonton Forestry, various third party contractors to ensure the delivery of successful projects. Through 2023, GS Construction maintained 2 mainline sized crews, 1 mini crew, a coring crew, and temporary water crew. These crews were supported by a number of dedicated office staff including 2 project coordinators, project manager, division manager, and 2 HSE Managers.

    • Large Crew installed approximately 1900m of water distribution mainline ranging from 150mm to 300mm in various residential, collector, and arterial roadways. Depths varying from 2.0-6.0m. Total appurtenances installed in conjunction with these projects include 33 valves, 13 hydrants, and 159 services reconnected.
    • Large Crew installed approximately 900m of water transmission mainline ranging from 450mm to 900mm on various collector and arterial roadways. Depths varying from 2.0-6.0m. Total appurtenances installed in conjunction with these projects include 3 hydrants, 3- 600mm Valve and chambers, 1- 450mm Valve and chamber, 10- 50mm manual air vents (MAV).
    • Mini Crew installed approximately 140m of water distribution main ranging from 150mm to 300mm. Additional installation includes 15 valves, 11 hydrants, 8 plugs, and 2 flush points.
    • Completion of two concrete protection slabs on existing transmission mains (1050mm and 750mm). These projects involved coordination of various subtrades for the installation of screw piles, and concrete form work and rebar.
