SIRP – Proactive Manhole Repair Support

As part of EPCOR’s Stormwater Integrated Resource Planning (SIRP) Proactive Manhole Sealing and Relining Program, GS Construction’s scope targeted manhole repairs across the City of Edmonton. Our scope focused specifically on excavation, manhole neck replacement, and surface restoration at locations identified for rehabilitation prior to sealing and relining activities.
Working from a defined repair list, GS Construction completed over 300 individual manhole repairs distributed across more than 20 Edmonton neighbourhoods, primarily within residential environments. Each location required localized excavation around active sanitary infrastructure, replacement or adjustment of frames and grade rings, and full surface reinstatement to City of Edmonton standards through coordinated restoration subcontractors.
The work was delivered through a highly mobile, repeatable execution model, with crews moving efficiently between short-duration work sites while maintaining consistent quality, public access, and traffic accommodation. Close coordination with Liquiforce crews allowed sealing and relining operations to proceed without delay, supporting overall program productivity across a geographically dispersed set of assets. This project demonstrates GS Construction’s ability to deliver high-volume underground repairs efficiently at scale, making us a reliable partner for large municipal rehabilitation programs.
